Manager Bruce Bochy will miss the Giants’ series opener in Miami after being admitted to University of Miami hospital Monday morning.
The Giants issued a statement Monday afternoon announcing that Bochy was “feeling ill” and “being checked” but is expected to return to the bench Tuesday after being monitored overnight. Bench coach Ron Wotus will manage the team Monday.
Bochy, 61, has a 951-075 record in 22 seasons as an MLB manager. He has an 814-755 record since joining the Giants in 2007.
In February of 2015, Bochy missed some time in spring training due to a heart procedure to insert two stints.
