Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has accepted an invitation to defend his title in the three-point shootout at the upcoming All-Star weekend, according to a report by Chris Haynes of ESPN.
Stephen Curry, the winner of the three-point crown in 2015, has also received an invite from the league, but has yet to confirm his participation.
Curry leads the NBA in three-pointers made with 188, shooting at a 41 percent clip. Thompson is ranked fifth in the league with 143 triples, shooting 40.3 percent. Curry has been on a tear from deep recently, going 11-of-15 from three in Wednesday’s win over the Hornets, and 26-of-42 in his last three games. Thompson was impressive in his own right, going 6-of-10 from downtown Wednesday.
Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum, Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews and Cavs sharpshooter Kyle Korver are all expected to be a part of the competition which will feature eight participants, according to ESPN.
