SAN FRANCISCO – Wednesday benches cleared as the San Francisco Giants starter Johnny Cueto came in tight on a pitch to the Los Angeles Dodger’s catcher Yasmani Grandal.
Cueto and Grandal first exchanged words came after Grandal knocked in a pair of runs in the first inning. Tension rose after Cueto ‘s fast ball almost hit Grandal as it got away from him in the 3rd. The next pitch Grandal’s sac fly lead to some more words that ended up clearing both benches.

After the game Johnny Cueto looked confused as he was asked what his frustration with Grandal was.
“Nothing, I left the ball up by his head and yea I have no problem.”
Cueto recalled the conversation on the field and what appeared to be anger was actually resolution.
“I told him, ‘you can blame my hand.” Im sorry, it wasn’t intentional. We agreed there wasn’t a problem”
Giants manager Bruce Bochy chalked it up to the game of baseball.
“Its a little jawing, it’s not uncommon in our game. Then you get guys on the bench who aren’t even in the game, who aren’t involved. It really wasn’t a big deal.”
Giants head to St Louis this weekend to start a 7 day road trip.
