The Audible: Winning in 2017 erases Warriors 2016 collapse

The Audible boys are back to talk about the Golden State Warriors winning their second championship in three years. For the third straight year the Warriors and Cavaliers faced off in the NBA Finals, marking the first time in NBA history that the same two teams have reached the finals three years in a row. The Warriors took the first matchup in 2015 and looked like they were going to secure back to back titles in 2016, only to lose in 7 games in what was one of the biggest finals collapses in NBA history.

After signing Kevin Durant in the offseason, the Warriors looked every bit the offensive juggernaut they were billed to be. Golden State swept their way through the playoffs on the way to their third consecutive Finals berth. LeBron James and the Cavaliers put up a fight against the Warriors as James became the first player ever to average a triple double in the Finals.

2017 was a little different…as Kevin Durant put the Warriors over the top in 2017, averaging 35 ppg as well as providing stellar defense on King James. The Warriors depth and plethora of talent proved to be too much for LeBron and the Cavs as they fell to the Warriors in 5 games.
