The 49ers added a Sacramento native to their 90-man roster on Tuesday morning.

San Francisco signed former Ravens and Lions cornerback Asa Jackson and waived injured cornerback Zach Franklin via a team announcement on Twitter.

Jackson, 27, played his college ball at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo before being selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. Jackson played in 18 games for Baltimore, starting in eight, from 2012-2015. Jackson was signed by the Lions at the end of last season and appeared in four games, starting in two. He has registered 34 tackles and four passes defensed in his five-year NFL career.

Franklin was signed by the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Division II Washburn University. He appeared in 45 games (34 starts) and recorded 109 tackles, 32 passes defensed, six tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble during his four-year career with the Ichabods.

Jackson (5-10, 183) will wear number 31.
