SAN FRANCISCO – Sunday afternoon, Pablo Sandoval hit a home run from the right side of the plate for the first time in three years…and we officially think we’ve seen it all this year from the San Francisco Giants.
Well, except sustained winning baseball.
It’s been a dreary month for Sandoval. Panda had only two hits in the entire month of September until Sunday, when he doubled that number with a single and a home run against the visiting Diamondbacks. Following the game, Sandoval told reporters that his kids and family have helped him mentally during his slump at the plate.
“When you have a family now, you concentrate to have fun with your kids,” Sandoval said. “They makes all those things easy. It’s tough, it’s tough to don’t think about it. But at the end of the day when you’re better and you’ve been in the league so many times, so many years, you try to get out of those things, don’t think about it and one of those days the ball gonna fall.”

Sunday’s game brings the Panda up to a .185 batting average for the Giants on the season, with .290 slugging percentage and three home runs.
Sandoval signed a one-year contract worth $535,000 to come back and play for the Giants in 2017. It’s tough to see Pablo back in a Giants uniform for the 2018 season so appreciate The Panda while you can.
