OAKLAND–How long does it take Steve Kerr to solve a Rubik’s Cube?
The exact same amount of time it takes reporters to tweet that Warriors’ star Steph Curry will sit out Monday evening’s contest with a right thigh contusion.
After bringing nail clippers to a press conference last week, Kerr took his prop game up a notch this week in anticipation of his news drop. Kerr understands the business of the media, and he knows that when news breaks, reporters are in a rush to disseminate the info to the public. So when Kerr alerted the media to Kevin Durant’s injury last week, he used the excess time waiting for reporters to tweet to clip his fingernails.
On Monday, Kerr entered his pregame press conference with a Rubik’s Cube that was already near completion, and though it took him a few spins, he had the cube solved by the time he was ready to answer his second question.
“Phones ready, Steph will not play,” Kerr said Monday night. “Shaun (Livingston) will start. JB (Jordan Bell) will be inactive, Quinn Cook will be active. Just let me know when you’re done.”
