Kevin Durant listed as probable for Warriors’ showdown with Thunder

It’s the matchup NBA fans around the world are dying to see.

Now, the Warriors have confirmed that it will probably happen.

After star forward Kevin Durant sat out Sunday’s win over Brooklyn with a left ankle sprain, Golden State listed Durant as “questionable” on Tuesday ahead of its showdown with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.

Durant initially suffered the ankle injury in the first quarter of the Warriors’ win over the 76ers on Saturday, but he remained in the game.

On Wednesday morning, though, Durant’s status was upgraded to “probable,” setting the stage for another epic return to the city he called home for eight of his first nine NBA seasons. Durant was the first star of the Thunder franchise when the team left Seattle following the 2007-2008 season, and his decision to sign with the Warriors in the summer of 2016 was met with great scrutiny.

When Durant returned to Oklahoma City last season, tensions ran high, as many Thunder fans called him a “cupcake.”

Last week, Bleacher Report published a profile of Durant detailing the animosity that still exists between Durant and several of his former teammates, namely point guard Russell Westbrook. Durant said that while he and Westbrook still aren’t talking, he guaranteed that if Durant was on his death bed, Westbrook would pay him a visit.
