It’s finally happening.
After impressing during the final three plays of the 49ers’ loss to the Seahawks last weekend, and throwing a touchdown in the process, Jimmy Garoppolo will make his first start as a member of the 49ers this Sunday against the Chicago Bears, the team has announced.

It is unclear how much C.J. Beathard’s knee injury sustained at the end of the Seahawks game is playing into this, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday that the rookie’s injury wasn’t serious.
This will be Garoppolo’s first start since he was a member of the New England Patriots in 2016, when he threw for 496 yards and four touchdowns while posting a 110 QB rating, as he filled in for the suspended Tom Brady during the first two games of the season.
Here’s what Jimmy G did in his brief appearance last weekend.
