Golden State point guard Stephen Curry left the Warriors’ game against the New Orleans Pelicans late Monday night with a sprained right ankle that he suffered attempting to close out on a late three-point attempt by E’Twaun Moore.
According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, Curry will sit out of the Warriors’ contest against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday as the team awaits results for an MRI.

Curry has a history of ankle problems, but hasn’t been significantly bothered by his ankle issues in recent seasons. The injury took place after Golden State had essentially sealed up a victory, and came just moments after forward Kevin Durant was ejected from Monday’s game for arguing with DeMarcus Cousins.

According to multiple reports from beat writers in New Orleans, X-rays of the ankle were negative, and Curry returned to the locker room on crutches and with a heavy ice pack wrapped around his right foot and ankle.

After undergoing X-rays, Curry met with the media. He appeared to be in relatively good spirits, and even joked that his first thought upon injuring himself was that he needed to call his father and let him know that they would have to cancel their planned golf outing Tuesday in Charlotte, Curry’s hometown.
