49ers waive defensive back selected in 2016 draft

The 49ers waived cornerback Prince Charles Iworah on Tuesday. Iworah sustained a quadriceps injury in the first game of the preseason that knocked him out for the rest of the exhibition schedule. Iworah was then waived but went unclaimed, reverting him back to the 49ers’ injured reserve where he has stayed all season.

Iworah, 24, attended Western Kentucky and was selected in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL draft by San Francisco and then general manager Trent Baalke. He appeared in just one game for the 49ers last season.

As pointed out by 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco, just two players from the 49ers’ 2016 draft class — DeForest Bucker and Ronald Blair — are currently on the team’s 53-man roster.
