It’s not much of a subplot anymore, but every matchup featuring Warriors’ rookie Jordan Bell and the Chicago Bulls carries a little extra significance.
Unfortunately, Bell’s second career battle with the team that originally controlled his draft rights featured an early injury.
On the first possession of Wednesday’s game in Chicago, Bell went up to block Bulls’ center Robin Lopez and landed awkwardly on his left ankle. Bell immediately fell to the floor and received medical attention before being carted off the floor.
Bell started the contest in place of Draymond Green, who was ruled out with a sore shoulder, and the Warriors were hoping their rookie center would fill the void at power forward. Instead, Bell’s night came to a premature end, and the Warriors can only hope at this point that the injury is not as serious as it looked.
Bell was initially selected 38th overall by the Bulls in the 2017 NBA Draft, but was traded to the Warriors for cash considerations that totaled $3.5 million.
