Although Stephen Curry’s birthday was Monday, he didn’t allow himself to party too much as his ankle is still on the mend.
Today at practice, Steph talked about his confidence in the Warriors’ plan to get him healthy for their recently clinched playoff seed.
“I would obviously love to be out there playing every game down the stretch,” said Curry.
However, Curry believes there’s enough time and enough guys that the Warriors can fill the gaps and allow the entire team to be healthy by the playoffs.
“I can almost do everything except play 5-on-5 situations,” said Curry. “It’s just about getting strong and giving my ankle the best it can to get to 100 percent.”
Curry also admitted he didn’t expect to miss more games.
“Nah. Selfishly I was always keying in on tonight because it’s a big day. You only turn 30 once. But you obviously have to keep a big picture perspective.
“I understood the thought process around not just how my ankle feels today verses next Wednesday verses next Friday, but the things I need to do, rehab wise, to strengthen my core and everything that protects my ankle so that when I do come back, I’m ready.
“Obviously there’s risk playing. The reason I hurt my ankle is I landed on somebody else’s foot twice. You can’t help that. But I gotta do whatever I can to lower the probability of putting myself in that situation again. Especially at this point in the season.”
