SAN FRANCISCO — Giants president Larry Baer joined Murph & Mac on Tuesday morning and shared what he’s most excited about for not only the season, but also the season-opener.
“I think it’s going to be really exciting for the fans to get into McCutchen and Longoria, Austin Jackson, Tony Watson,” Baer said.
“One of the things I really like is when new players are greeted for the first time at home on opening day,” Baer added. “Beyond that, we want a great game.”
Those four players highlighted a very aggressive offseason from the Giants.
Although they lost 98 games last season, the Giants added McCutchen, Longoria, Watson, and Jackson to their roster with the hope that they’ll help them rebound this season.
“One of the things we talked about this offseason was in the years that we’ve been in this ballpark, or really the years we’ve been in San Francisco, we’ve got two or three years like last year,” Baer said. “But what I’m proud of is each year we have bounced back.”
Baer went on the say, “That’s kind of been our mentality that we have this year. We added to the team and didn’t do a rebuild because our DNA is just to bounce back.”
