Another member of the Thompson family is headed to the Bay.

Trace Thompson, brother of Warriors All-Star guard Klay Thompson, was claimed off waivers on Thursday by the Oakland A’s. This comes two days after Thompson was claimed off waivers by the Yankees, after he was designated for assignment on March 27 by Dodgers.

Thompson, 27, was drafted out of high school by the Chicago White Sox in 2009, and made his major league debut in 2015, posting an impressive .896 OPS in 44 games as a rookie. Thompson was traded to the Dodgers the next season, and made the Opening Day roster, but was relegated to just 80 games as he dealt with a back issue.

Thompson struggled last season as he attempted to bounce back, playing just 27 games with the Dodgers (.483 OPS), spending the majority of the season with the club’s AAA affiliate in Oklahoma City. Thompson was designated for assignment after his struggles continued in spring training.
