Fitzpatrick is the No. 2 ranked cornerback prospect according to Pro Football Focus, and is projected to be drafted by the 49ers in the first round by both ESPN draft experts Mel Kiper and Todd McShay.
The 49ers also visited with West Virginia safety Kyzir White on Monday, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. White is ranked as the fourth best safety prospect in the draft according to PFF, and is expected to be a second or third round pick in most mock drafts. White is a strong safety prospect and also played some linebacker in college.
Fitzpatrick, 21, was the most decorated defensive back in college football last season, winning the Chuck Bednarik Award (best defensive player in CFB), Jim Thorpe Award (best DB in CFB), and was named a unanimous first-team All-American.
White recorded 94 tackles, including 7.5 for losses, forced two fumbles and intercepted three passes with West Virginia in 2017. White was a second-team All-Big 12 selection.
