Draymond Green was called for a flagrant foul in the fourth quarter of Monday’s 116-101 win over the Spurs, after his elbow caught the face of San Antonio big man Davis Bertans as the two jostled for a rebound. It’s the first flagrant point for Green this postseason. If he accumulates four during the playoffs, he’ll have to serve a one game suspension.
Considering Green’s history, it’s the type of thing that might make a few Warriors fans nervous. Green, however, seemed to disagree with the call, saying in his postgame presser that Bertans grabbed him by the neck and flopped, and that at the very least it should’ve been a flagrant on both players.
“It is what it is,” Green said. “I didn’t even see the replay. I thought it was a little bit of a flop, I don’t even know if I hit him. But if I did — I’m not saying I didn’t, I don’t know — but if it’s going to be a flagrant foul, shouldn’t it be a double flagrant? I can just get grabbed around my neck? I’m not going to sit up here and say: ‘I did nothing.’ But I got to get someone off my neck though. If you’re going to penalize me, why not penalize both? That’s my thing.”
Green then indicated that he’s not worried about accumulating flagrant points, and that this one might get rescinded.
“Nah,” Green said. “I don’t care. It is what it is. Life goes on. More important things in life than worrying about a flagrant point. Maybe it’ll get rescinded. I got put in a chokehold like I was in WWE or something. So it may get rescinded. Who knows?”
