The Warriors released the following update on Patrick McCaw Thursday afternoon, who has been out of action since sustaining a lumbar spine contusion during a scary fall against the Sacramento Kings on April 1.

The update that McCaw will be re-evaluated in four weeks essentially rules him out for the season, with the NBA Finals scheduled to begin on May 31.
The absence of McCaw, 22, forced the Warriors to turn to G-League guard Quinn Cook, who finished the season with 13 consecutive games scoring in double figures, eventually earning a two-year deal from Golden State.
McCaw seemed to take a step-back in his second NBA season, seeing his field goal percentages take a hit across the board. McCaw’s struggles even led to him requesting a G-League stint midway through the season to try and regain some confidence. McCaw will become a restricted free agent this offseason.
