The Giants have struggled mightily with injuries in recent years, and 2018 has been no exception.
Now, after Jeff Samardzija left Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies with shoulder tightness, he has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.
Tyler Beede has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding roster move and is active for Wednesday night’s contest with the Rockies. According to Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group, Beede’s role may be in the bullpen instead of the starting rotation.
Certainly sounds like Dereck Rodriguez will start Sunday if he’s healthy enough to throw a bullpen tomorrow.

Dereck Rodriguez, who was called up from Triple-A Sacramento Monday, made his major league debut Tuesday in relief of Samardzija, throwing 69 pitches in 3.1 innings and conceding four runs, only one of which was earned, and appears to be on track to start for the Giants on Sunday.
Beede, for what it’s worth, has apparently improved his velocity and command after making a small mechanical tweak down in Sacramento.
Tyler Beede said his fastball hit 96, fastest MPH in months, in his last appearance with Sacramento. Threw 60 pitches, 50 fastballs and improved his command with it thanks to a mechanical change.
