After going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft, former Oregon forward Chris Boucher signed a two-way contract with the Warriors for the 2017-2018 season. The team hoped Boucher, who possessed a lanky and athletic 6’10” frame with a proficient shooting touch from the outside, could blossom into a diamond in the rough with some seasoning in the G-League with the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Nevertheless, Boucher’s time with the Warriors has run out. Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reported Friday that the Warriors had waived Boucher, making him an unrestricted free agent.

With the move, both of the Warriors’ two-way contracts are now open for the team to sign new players. Boucher was likely released to make room for another low-risk prospect, especially a wing, who might blossom into a cheap NBA-caliber player that could help the Warriors fill out their bench. An example of this would be Quinn Cook, who joined the Warriors as a two-way player prior to the 2017-2018 season and eventually signed a two-year pro contract with the team to help solidify its guard depth.
