Steve Kerr just finished guiding the Warriors to their third championship in four years, all four of which have been with Kerr at the helm. And while he enjoyed the best the Bay Area’s sports scene has to offer at the Giants game Thursday, Kerr has also apparently been busy negotiating a contract extension to keep him with the franchise for years to come.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday that Kerr and the Warriors are finalizing an extension to keep Kerr in the Bay Area.

According to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, Kerr’s current contract runs through the 2018-19 season, so re-signing him to an extension is not an imminent priority to prevent his departure. Nevertheless, the Warriors appear to have locked up Kerr for several more years to come, good news for the franchise that was won at least 58 games in each of Kerr’s four seasons with the team, as well as 67 games twice and a record-breaking 73 games in the 2016-2017 season to go along with the three championships.
