The Giants second overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft made quite a statement in his debut with Class A Short Season Salem-Keizer on Wednesday, belting two home runs and collecting four RBIs in a 15-1 win over the Hillsboro Hops.

In his second at-bat, Bart pounced on a 1-0 offering and sent a two-run shot over the left field fence. Then in the eighth inning, Bart took advantage on another 1-0 count, belting his second homer of the night, this time over the right-field wall. Bart also added a single in the fourth inning.

“I was just trying to jump on it in the zone,” Bart told MiLB.com after the game. “They were throwing a lot of breaking balls out of the zone. I was trying to see some balls well, not do too much and put a good swing on it and capitalize on a few.”

“Tonight, being Fourth of July, it was all really cool. I just take my game to the next level where I can. It was great tonight. It was special and I’m glad we scored a lot of runs.”

Bart, 21, posted a slash line of 261/.320/.391 in his previous six games in the Rookie-level Arizona League.

Selected at No. 2 overall, Bart is the Giants’ highest draft pick since selecting Will Clark with the second overall pick in 1985.
