SAN FRANCISCO — Steven Duggar made his major league debut for the Giants Sunday at AT&T Park, and while the rangy center fielder was unable to get a hit in his first three at-bats, he doubled in his fourth at-bat to lead off the sixth inning. But this was not just any ordinary double.
Widely regarded as exceptionally athletic both in the outfield and on the basepaths, Duggar made it from home plate to second base in just 7.73 seconds, the fastest home-to-second time for a Giants player in 2018.

Duggar’s double jumpstarted the Giants in the inning as the team plated five runners, including Duggar himself. Pablo Sandoval, whose three-home home run in the fifth put the Giants up 6-4, filleted a single down the left field line to score two. Alen Hanson then blooped a single in front of Cardinals center fielder Tommy Pham before Gorkys Hernandez broke the game open with a single to right-center that scored Sandoval from second and the speedy Hanson all the way from first, putting the Giants up 11-4.
