Warriors center Damian Jones’ summer league campaign is likely over.

Jones was back in the Bay Area on Monday to receive an MRI on his right knee, which revealed a Grade 1 MCL strain. The good news is that the injury should not affect Jones’ readiness for training camp in September. The big man is officially listed as “day-to-day.”

The Summer League playoffs begin on Wednesday and conclude on July 17, so there is an outside chance that the third-year center could return before that time. The Warriors say that Jones sustained the injury on Friday in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jones scored nine points and had three rebounds in 20 minutes in his only Summer League game this year. With the departures of JaVale McGee and Zaza Pachulia, and the likely departure of David West, Jones is expected to have an increased role in 2018-19, especially until DeMarcus Cousins is ready to return from his Achilles tear.
