SAN FRANCISCO — Friday night, the San Francisco Giants put up an impressive spot of offense in the bottom of the first inning, building an early 4-0 lead in the process.
It all started as Andrew McCutchen smashed a 422-foot lead-off homer to left after just four pitches from Texas Rangers starter Drew Hutchison.

The damage was far from over, as Joe Panik started a early offensive rally by dropping a blooper into right. Buster Posey and Brandon Belt would add to the pressure as they would both draw walks to load the bases with no outs. Even Longoria tapped a dribbler to third baseman Jurickson Profar who seemed to have a handle on the ball, but suddenly held his throw, allowing Longoria to go to first uncontested as Panik scored.

Center fielder Steven Duggar hit a soft grounder to Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus and was called out. The Giants, however, weren’t confident that the speedy Duggar was out, and after a reviewed play the call was overturned.
Now in the final spot of their lineup, starting pitcher Dereck Rodríguez was up to bat and grounded out to end the inning.
The Giants not only put up four runs on the board but also pushed Hutchison to 36 pitches in the first while Rodríguez sat comfortably at seven pitches.
