Former Warriors center David West announced his retirement from the NBA after 15 seasons, in a Twitter post on Thursday morning.

West’s decision to hang it up is not a surprise, as TNT’s David Aldridge reported last offseason that 2017-18 would be his last year in the NBA.
West was a key part of the Warriors bench unit in each of their last two title winning seasons. Last season, West set a career high in field goal percentage (.571), and was one of the leaders in defensive real-plus minus despite playing just 13.7 minutes per game.
West is a two-time All-Star, earning both honors as a member of the Hornets who drafted him with the 18th overall pick in 2003. West spent eight years with the franchise and is the Hornets’ all-time leader with 530 games played and 17,160 minutes played. West also spent time with the Indiana Pacers (2011-2015), and San Antonio Spurs (2015-2016).
West entered the NBA after an incredible college career at Xavier where he was a three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and the AP National Player of the Year in 2003.
