Tyreek Hill doesn’t think there’s room for two cheetahs in the National Football League.
That’s what the Chiefs receiver told reporters on Tuesday while taking a playful jab at 49ers running back Matt Breida — nicknamed Breida the Cheetah — who shares the same nickname as Hill.
“Man, I’ve only gotta say one thing: Who got the social media name and all of that?” Hill said Wednesday, alluding to his @cheetah Twitter handle, per the Kansas City Star’s Brooke Pryor. “There’s only one cheetah in the league, just know that. You can’t be a cheetah and run a 4.48, or whatever you run.”
Breida actually ran 4.38 40-yard-dash time at his pro day in 2017. That’s still significantly slower than Hill’s 4.24 40-time he ran during his pro day, which would have been tied for the second-fastest 40-time ever recorded at the NFL combine.
“I mean, he’s a great player,” Hill said of Breida. “He’s a good player, though. I’ve been watching him. He’s from Georgia. He went to Georgia Southern. He cold. But there’s only one cheetah. Just know that.”
Breida has had an excellent start to the 2018 season, and is currently leading the NFL with 184 rushing yards through two games, on just 22 attempts. Hill has been arguably even more impressive to start the season, leading the league with 364 all-purpose yards, while adding three touchdowns.
The two will meet for the first time when the 49ers (1-1) face the Chiefs in Kansas City (2-0) this Sunday.
