Jimmy Garoppolo may miss the rest of 2018, and according to Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, the quarterback has nobody to blame but himself.
“That was his fault,” Houston said via Pro Football Talk. “I pray he’s not hurt, nothing serious, but as a quarterback you should step out of bounds. It was only an inch. That inch wouldn’t have made a difference. You got the yardage you need, you step out of bounds. You got to be smart.”
Garoppolo’s knee buckled during the fourth quarter of the 49ers’ 38-27 loss in Kansas City, when the quarterback attempted to cut back into the field of play as he scampered down the side line. To add insult to injury, Garoppolo took a vicious hit immediately after the apparent knee injury.

“All indications are that it’s torn,” 49ers general manager John Lynch told NBC Sports’ Peter King. “Our (medical) guys say they’ve been wrong before and so they need to do the MRI, obviously.”
It is unclear at this point if the 49ers will look to sign a veteran quarterback to replace Garoppolo, of if they’ll roll with C.J. Beathard, who started five games last season.
