Klay Thompson drops 36 points, ties NBA record for 3-pointers in a half

Slump? What slump? Klay Thompson has had the most un-Klay-like start to this season you could imagine. That is, until tonight. Thompson entered tonight’s game 5-for-36 (.139) from three.

Then, like Klay tends to do, he went absolutely off. Thompson tied the NBA record for threes in a half against the Chicago Bulls tonight, hitting 10-of-14 threes en route to a 36-point half. In the first quarter alone, he went 6-of-7 from three.

That absurd effort was in addition to 23 points from Steph Curry, 14 points from Alfonzo McKinnie – the Chicago native – and 11 from Kevin Durant.

That was all part of the 92 points the Warriors scored to the Bulls’ 50 in the first half. That mark of 92 points set the Warriors franchise record for points in a half. The NBA record, for those wondering, is 107 points in a half. The Warriors’ 92 is the second-most in NBA history.
