San Francisco, CA — The San Francisco Giants announced today they have declined to tender a 2019 contract offer to outfielder Gorkys Hernandez and right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland, while also agreeing to terms with infielder Joe Panik and right-handed pitcher Sam Dyson on one-year contracts for the 2019 season to avoid arbitration.

OF Gorkys Hernandez and RHP Hunter Strickland are now free to negotiate with any Major League team. With these moves, the club now has 34 players on its 40-man roster.

Hernandez, 31, set career-highs in games played (142), hits (97), home runs (15) and RBI (40) last season. He finished the year with a .234 batting average and his 15 home runs were tied for the second-most on the team.

Strickland, 30, went 3-5 with a 3.97 ERA (20er, 45.1ip) and 14-for-18 in save chances in 49 games for the Giants in 2018.

Panik, 28, finished the 2018 season batting .254 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 102 games.

Dyson, 30, posted a 2.69 ERA (21er, 70.1ip) and a .228 opponents average in a team-leading 74 appearances in 2018, which also ranked as the seventh-most in the NL.

The Giants have one remaining arbitration-eligible player who is unsigned for the upcoming season: LHP Will Smith, who was tendered a contract today.
