NBA rescinds DeMarcus Cousins’ technical for throwing shoe

The NBA has rescinded a technical foul issued to DeMarcus Cousins during Monday’s game vs. the Hornets, as first reported by Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group. Cousins was given the T after Charlotte guard Jeremy Lamb lost his shoe, and Cousins picked it up and threw it off the court.

Cousins strongly pled his case for throwing the shoe after the game, arguing that he did so as a precautionary measure, especially since he’s coming off a torn Achilles sustained last season. Someone at the NBA office must’ve heard, and agreed with the big man’s argument.

“You know next time I’ll just step on the shoe, roll my ankle, break it, tear an Achilles,” Cousins said. “I’ll leave it out there next time. I guess that’s what they want.”

Aside from the toss, Cousins played a fantastic game. He finished with 24 points on an efficient 9-for-15 night from the field that included a deep ball, to go with 11 boards, three assists and three boards.
