On Tuesday, the Giants acquired veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar in a four-player trade with the Blue Jays that saw them ship off both infielder Alen Hanson and reliever Derek Law.

Pillar, 30, who provides an upgrade over opening day starter Michael Reed in the outfield, was decent at the plate last year, posting a .708 OPS. In the field is where he really shines, however.

Pillar is a true center fielder with incredible range, and as a right-handed platoon parter with Steven Duggar, will likely provide the most talented defensive CF pairing in the National League. Pillar’s prowess in the outfield has earned him 8.2 defensive wins above replacement over the course of his six year career.

Don’t believe us? Check out this staggering highlight reel from his time in Toronto.

Pillar isn’t going to blow anyone away at the plate, but after seeing the above highlights, it’s practically a guarantee that he’ll provide some top-tier entertainment in the outfield.
