Longora hits bases-loaded double in seventh to give Giants 3-2 lead over Dodgers

SAN FRANCISCO – We have life at Oracle Park. It took seven innings, but the San Francisco Giants are on the board.

The Giants had reached base safely in the first six innings of their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but couldn’t find the timely hitting they needed push any of those baserunners across the plate.

That changed in a hurry in the seventh inning.

Panik was a first to reach base, singling to left center. Next up was Solarte, who doubled to right. Panik was unable to score on the double and held up at third base. Brandon Belt juiced the bases with a walk, bringing Evan Longoria to the dish.

Longoria took a Dylan Floro pitch and roped it down the third base line. Panik, Solarte, and Belt all scored easily.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy had given Longoria the day off to rest, starting Pablo Sandoval at third base in his place. Bochy then pinch-hit Longoria for Sandoval in the seventh, and Longoria rewarded his manager’s decision with a massive hit.
