The 2019 NFL Draft has come and gone and the San Francisco 49ers are eager to show off their number two overall pick, Nick Bosa. Regarded by most as the best player in the draft, Bosa recently was under fire for his political views, as well as some controversial tweets that surfaced.

There are no questions over Bosa’s ability on the field’ the former Ohio State Buckeye was one of the most sought after defensive ends since his brother, Joey Bosa, who went third overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Matt Barrows of The Athletic joined Drew Hoffar on 680 Thursday night to discuss Bosa, as well as the rest of the 49ers draft. Barrows believes that there should be no issues with Bosa fitting in with the rest of the 49ers locker room.

“The only debate, the only question mark about him is ‘will he be able to fit in with the locker room?” Barrows said. “I don’t think it’s going to be a big issue, his politics and what he said on social media in the past.”

The 49ers have struggled to pressure other quarterbacks around the league for a few years now. The addition of Bosa to a defensive line that includes DeForest Bucker and Dee Ford, could give the team one of the league’s most formidable pass-rushing attacks. If Bosa is able to produce right away, the discussions surrounding his political views and social media history may subside.

“I mean, if he gets 10 sacks this year, no ones going to care about his social media. And there are big personalities in that 49ers locker room, Richard Sherman is there.

“Richard Sherman last year was asked about Josh Allen the Buffalo quarterback who had much more dubious things written on his social media when he was a teenager. Sherman’s response was barely more than a shrug. These are things that this kid (Allen) wrote when he was a teenager. People change over time and that’s what you want to see in people: growth.

“I thought it was a very rational, mature response by Sherman. He hasn’t been asked about Bosa, but I imagine his response would be very similar.”

Bosa, as well as the other 2019 draft picks reported to rookie mini-camp on Thursday and will begin practicing Friday for the first time since joining the team.
