Tuesday was a busy day for the San Francisco Giants. The club made six roster moves and added three players to the 25-man roster, calling up OF Mac Williamson, IF Donovan Solano, and LHP Williams Jerez from Triple-A Sacramento. The club also designated IF Yangervis Solarte and SHP Pat Venditte for assignment. Outfielder Gerardo Parra, who was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento, has elected free agency.
The hot-hitting Williamson will take Gerber’s spot in the outfield, and is in the starting lineup on Tuesday just a day after he launched three home runs in a game for Triple-A Sacramento. He will bat sixth and start in right field. Solano will take Solarte’s backup infield spot. Both Solano and Solarte were signed as a free agents this offseason. Solarte has struggled mightily in 73 at-bats with the big league club, posting a slash line of .205/.247/.315.
Jerez was acquired in the trade for Chris Stratton on March 26. He’s impressed in 12 relief appearances in Sacramento, posting a 2.40 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 15 innings of work. The switch-pitching Venditte was another free agent acquisition this winter. He gave up a combined six runs in his two appearances.
Here’s the full 25-man roster as currently constructed:
