Thursday night is going to be an emotional one no matter what happens. In addition to it being a must-win game to keep the Warriors’ season alive, it is also the last ever game at Oracle Arena, and the first game after Kevin Durant’s heartbreaking Achilles tear in Game 5.
All that is to say that Game 6 has the potential to make for a very special night in Oakland. Hours before tip-off, Klay Thompson, who has called Oakland his home for the last eight years, posted a heartfelt tribute to both the arena and Durant on Instagram.
“Gameday, and it’s obviously a big one,” Thompson began. “But DubNation, I need you to reflect on the fact that we would not be in this position if it weren’t for this man and his sacrifices. He’s the reason there are banners hanging in the rafters of Oracle. I’m gonna need every Dubs fan in the building tonight to bring the same fire K brought everyday to the court!! It’s not gonna be the same running out that tunnel without u bro. We all know this is a minor set back or a major comeback !! Nothing can impede this mans greatness. (goat emoji)
“Speaking of oracle, let’s lay it all out there tonight in honor the 47 years in this beautiful building. Let’s get it DubNation! #doitforK #onelastdance”

Durant responded with a “Love u bro!” before Thompson said the two would celebrate life together after the season is over.
Regardless of what happens on Thursday night, it’s clear the relationship between Thompson and Durant is more than just teammates.
