Klay Thompson’s torn ACL added injury to the insult of Golden State’s NBA Finals loss in the final game at Oracle Arena on Thursday. The injury also immediately threw into question the future of Thompson, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
According to Klay’s father, however, the All-Star shooting guard isn’t planning on going anywhere.
Just spoke with Klay Thompson’s father, Mychal, who said there’s “no question” Klay will re-sign with the Warriors. Golden State is expected to still offer him a full five-year maximum deal.

The Warriors are expected to offer Klay to a max deal worth five-years and $191 million this offseason. Because Klay is slated to miss at least half of next season as he recovers, Thompson was reportedly worried how the injury might affect his contract situation.
“Do you think this could affect my free agency?” Thompson asked after the game, according to Ramona Shelburne.
The good news is it doesn’t look like it will, and a new contract will bring Klay one stop closer to “being a Warrior for life.”
