The Warriors want to bring Kevon Looney back. With Kevin Durant headed to the Brooklyn Nets, the potential luxury tax ramifications of re-signing Looney, while still present, are reduced significantly. According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, the Warriors met with Looney on Sunday to discuss re-signing with the Warriors.

Looney is one of the best big men on the open market this offseason, and at just 24, he’s also one of the youngest. He raised his value tremendously late on in the Warriors’ playoff run, and played through a fractured collarbone in the NBA Finals. Looney’s evident value to the Warriors probably raised his value on the market.
It was reported by Marc Stein of the New York Times on Saturday that the Houston Rockets had set up a “recruitment session” with Looney, which if effective, would both bring the Rockets a quality big man, and take him away from the Warriors. It would however, be difficult for the Rockets, as we examined here.
