PHILADELPHIA — All of that trade-deadline anxiety, let out in one inning.
The Giants exploded for five runs in the sixth inning against the Phillies on Wednesday, hours after much of their bullpen was dealt away, but Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith remained.
First it was Buster Posey going deep off Vince Velasquez for a two-run bomb. When the starter was pulled, Pablo Sandoval launched one off Adam Morgan to go back-to-back.

Brandon Crawford followed with a measly single before Kevin Pillar launched one 399 feet to left field to put the Giants up 5-0.

The last time the Giants hit three homers in an inning was April 4, 2018, against Seattle. It was the fourth time this season they had gone back-to-back, the last time being July 15 in Colorado, when Stephen Vogt and Crawford did it.
