The Giants have added another pitcher to their bullpen a day after rosters expanded from 25 to 40 players.
San Francisco called up right-handed reliever Kyle Barraclough from triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Barraclough joined the club in St. Louis ahead of their Labor Day matinee vs. the Cardinals. The Giants also recalled left-handed starting pitcher Andy Suarez.
Barraclough, 29, has significant major league experience over the past five seasons, making 260 appearances combined with the Marlins (2015-2018) and Nationals (2019). The Santa Clara native had an encouraging first two seasons in Miami, posting a 2.78 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 100 appearances. Barraclough saw a steady regression over the next three seasons, however, with his ERA ballooning to 6.66 in just six appearances with Washington in 2018.
The Giants now have 32 players on their active roster including 17 pitchers. The Giants called up four prospects from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, welcoming back Aramis Garcia, Conner Menez, Chris Shaw and Burch Smith, whom the Giants claimed from Milwaukee.
