The Los Angeles Rams are acquiring All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. After Ramsey requested to be traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 17, and weeks of speculation surrounding a possible destination for Ramsey, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Ramsey’s situation had finally been resolved on Tuesday, and that he’ll be heading to the Rams.

The cost for acquiring Ramsey, who is arguably the best corner in football, was steep: a first-round pick in 2020 and 2021, and a fourth-round pick in 2021.

The move came after the Rams placed corner Aqib Talib on injured reserve, and then traded away corner Marcus Peters, who will become a free agent this summer, to the Baltimore Ravens, earlier in the day, in exchange for linebacker Kenny Young and a 2020 fifth-round draft pick.

All of that, of course, followed the 49ers’ methodical, brutal 20-7 win over the Rams at the LA Memorial Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, which, if not a cause of the trades, probably accelerated their execution for a Rams team that now stands in third place in the NFC West division at 3-3.
