Is this the final three?
Kansas City’s Pedro Grifol will get a second interview for the Giants’ manager job, according to MLB.com, joining Houston’s Joe Espada and former Philadelphia manager Gabe Kapler as the known candidates to reach the next round.
Grifol is the Royals’ catching and quality control coach and like the other finalists, has a background in hitting, the team’s batting coach in 2013 and ’14.
The Miami native never reached the majors, a lifetime minor leaguer with the Twins and Mets from 1991-99.
Farhan Zaidi interviewed at least nine candidates for the job including Dodgers bench coach and former A’s manager Bob Geren, according to The Athletic. It is unknown whether Geren impressed enough to get a second look.
