Jerry Rice calls it: The 49ers are ‘gonna win the whole thing’

Jerry Rice is a confident guy. He should be — he’s the greatest receiver in NFL history, arguably the greatest player in NFL history and has three Super Bowl rings to his name.

His confidence also spreads to his feelings about his former team, the 8-0 San Francisco 49ers. Rice said on “First Take” Monday that the 49ers, who are now the only undefeated team in the NFL, will win their first Super Bowl since Rice’s 1994 squad.

“They’re gonna continue winning,” Rice said.

“They’ll go to the NFC Championship Game,” Stephen A. Smith responded.

“Oh no, they’re gonna win the whole thing,” Rice said. “They’re gonna win the whole thing. I picked them from Day 1. Jimmy G’s gonna get them to the promised land.

“Hear me right now,” Rice continued pointing straight into the camera. “They’re gonna win the Super Bowl.”

The last time the 49ers were 8-0 was the 1990 season. San Francisco went 10 games before losing, but ultimately fell in the NFC Championship Game to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

According to Odds Shark, the 49ers currently have the third best odds to win the Super Bowl at 6.5 to 1, behind the Patriots (2.5 to 1) and the Saints (6 to 1).

San Francisco faces their biggest test of the season next week when they face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.
