omg Pence thought he just walked it off but somehow the winning run STOPPED FOR NO REASON 10 FEET FROM HOME WOW THIS IS INCREDIBLY UNLUCKY & SUPREMELY BIZARRE
(I also suck at baserunning so I can relate but also WTF happened here??? it didn't look like he did anything wrong…) pic.twitter.com/zbxfWs47iF

The Giants, the same team that instituted a baserunning award in spring training, inexplicably nearly ran themselves out of a win Monday night in a third inning that reflects poorly on the entire organization.
Or, maybe it’s just a video-game glitch.
Hunter Pence, playing in the 30-player “MLB The Show” league against Kansas City’s Brett Phillips, should have taken an early 2-1 lead on a two-out single from virtual Brandon Belt. Pence celebrated, tossing his controller in the air, and either a glitch or ground-induced button-press cost him: The runner from second (is that Evan Longoria?) abruptly stopped feet from home plate, only to be tagged out.
“Why did he stop? I put the controller down. I put the — Oh my God. What?!” were the words from Pence on the stream. “I guess when my controller hit the ground it hit R2.”
Wife Lexi, trying to help, asked, “Can we challenge?” Unfortunately, no.
There would be columns calling for everyone’s head after the game had Pence’s Giants lost, but fortunately Buster Posey turned a glitch into a footnote.
