The state of California is mostly entering the second phase of re-opening, and Governor Gavin Newsom announced that sports teams should be able to return to the state by the first week of June. The San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s, along with the rest of MLB franchises, have been perhaps hit the hardest by the timing of the pandemic among other major sports, as MLB and the MLBPA try to sort out a deal for returning to play an abbreviated season, almost certainly without fans.
At Oracle Park, construction has resumed on the new bullpens, situated in center field, courtesy of the helicopter video above by KPIX 5. The dimensions of the new outfield compared to the old are as follows:
Left-center field (intersection of left field and center-field wall):
Old: 404 New: 399
Center Field (middle of center-field wall)
Old: 399 New: 391
Triples Alley (intersection of center-field wall and brick right-field wall):
Old: 421 New: 415
The fence will also be shortened a full foot, from 8 to 7 feet.
