It took Joey Bart three major league at bats to turn heads.
The catcher made his debut on Thursday vs. the Angels, and ripped a double down the left-field line for his first career hit. Impressive right? Even more impressive when you consider the exit velocity of 109.5 MPH is the fourth hardest hit ball by a Giant all season.
Bart’s prowess at the plate is well documented. Bart posted a slash line of .333/.524/.767 with four jacks in 10 spring training games this season. Last year he slashed .278/.328/.495 with 16 home runs in Single and Double-A combined.
Thursday was just the beginning.
