The Giants will not have an Opening Day but an Opening Night.
Major League Baseball announced game times Thursday for a 2021 campaign that will not be delayed. The Giants will open their season in Seattle on April 1 at 7:10 p.m., the beginning of a three-game set that will be followed by three in San Diego.
The Oracle Park debut comes April 9 at 1:35 p.m. against Colorado, and while Scottsdale Stadium is expected to open its doors to 750-1,000 fans per home spring training game, it’s more unclear if San Francisco will be able to host fans.
Last month, CEO Larry Baer announced the club sees a “pathway” toward fans sitting back in their seats, but the city itself and its medical professionals will have the final call.
Typical weeknight games on the West Coast for the Giants will start at 6:45 p.m., as was the case last season. The Giants don’t face off with the Dodgers until May 21, when they host a Friday-Sunday series of games that will begin at 6:45, 4:15 and 1:05.
Their season finishes with a six-game homestand against the Diamondbacks and powerhouse Padres, the final weekend involving 1:05 and 12:05 matchups.
