Lorraine Grohs is here to give a voice to the voiceless. In this case, because the voiceless is an inanimate object.
In what has to be the first documented “Trophy Rights” issue, Grohs is distraught over a viral video from last week that showed Tom Brady throwing the Lombardi Trophy from his yacht to Rob Gronkowski’s boat, during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl parade. You see, Grohs is the daughter of the designer of the Lombardi Trophy, Greg Grohs, the master silversmith at Tiffany and Company from 1967 to 1994.

“It takes a lot of work, a lot of hard work,” Grohs told a Tampa Bay news station. “A lot of hours go into it. It just really upset me that this trophy was disgraced and disrespected being thrown as if it was a real football. I didn’t sleep for the past two nights because of this, I was that upset. Because I know the passion that goes into this trophy and how my dad and all his silversmiths are so proud to make this.
“I personally would like an apology, not just to me and my family and the other silversmiths, but to the fans.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Grohs is going to get one. Brady has said nothing since the video of Grohs complaining came out three days ago. The only member of the Bucs to chime in as of yet is general manger Jason Licht, who responded to the video telling Grohs to “lighten up,” using a gif from the 1981 Bill Murray movie, “Stripes”.
