With a name that conjures up a lightning strike, Skye Bolt’s time with the Giants lasted only a bit longer.
A month after being claimed off waivers by San Francisco, and less than a week after being designated for assignment, the 27-year-old outfielder was traded back to the Oakland A’s for cash considerations on Wednesday. This will be Bolt’s second stint with the A’s, who drafted him in the fourth round of 2015, and DFA’d him on April 1 of this year.
Bolt now bounces back to the A’s Triple-A alternate site in Las Vegas, just in time for tomorrow’s season opener against the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento.
Bolt saw the field briefly during his Giants’ tenure, appearing in two games and striking out in his lone at-bat, the first of his major league career. Bolt, a centerfielder, was solid in his last full season with the A’s, slashing .269/.350/.459 in 347 plate appearances in Las Vegas.
