Are we still doing the #ForeverGiant thing? The shorter the stint, the more legendary the Giants legacy. Jimmie Sherfy was definitely on the upper end of that scale. The former Giants reliever pitched in 10 games and 10.2 innings for San Francisco this season, leaning heavily on a low-80s slider and mid-90s 4-seam fastball, accumulating a 4.22 ERA and 1.219 WHIP.
The Giants designated Sherfy for assignment on July 6 and as of Tuesday, Sherfy is heading to Los Angeles, having been claimed by the Dodgers, according to the team.
What was likely Sherfy’s brightest moment in his brief Giants career came against the Padres (one of the two NL West teams he hasn’t played for), when he struck out the side on March 24 to get out of a bases loaded jam.

This is now the third NL West team Sherfy has been a part of, after coming though the Arizona Diamondbacks system as their No. 15 prospect as recently as 2018. He spent the entirety of his career with Arizona before this season and had a 2.98 ERA in the majors over three seasons and 45.1 innings there.
